Backflow Repair
What if Your Backflow Assembly Fails?

Our data shows over the last 2 years that on average 85% of landscape sprinkler assemblies pass the test on the first try. Of the 15% of assemblies that fail, most can be easily repaired by simply cleaning and flushing debris from the unit. Of the remaining mechanical failures, most can be attributed to disc or spring problems. The discs which are actually rubber seals can become damaged after years of contact with the seat. The springs which apply the needed pressure for the discs to seal against the seats can either break or become fatigued. Most assemblies are designed so the disc and spring can be easily removed, then either cleaned or replaced and re-installed without removing the unit from the ground or plumbing system. With the exception of the Watts 775 QT there is no additional labor charge to clean or replace defective internal parts for state approved 1” inch double check valves. Furthermore there is no additional cost to re-test the assembly if we have the replacement parts with us. Since we specialize in landscape sprinkler repair we try to stock a majority of the common replacement parts for 1” double check valves which are by far the most common backflow assembly used for residential irrigation systems. Parts of course are and additional cost and vary depending on the manufacture.

Selecting a Backflow Assembly Tester

It’s important to select a certified tester who is licensed to test and repair assemblies. Some testers are only licensed to test, which means you could be stuck paying for your test and then paying again for another tester to repair the unit and retest it. We of course do both testing and repair and hold the specialty plumbing license required to legally do repairs.
